Frequently Asked Questions

What do you mean, Circles of Ten? Circles of Ten are book groups of 10 people who read the same book and discuss it.  At Legacy, students will sign up with Mrs. Ackerman at the LMC or by email before the start date for the discussion.

When & how do we discuss the book? Circle groups will discuss the book on the blog, with prompts by Mrs. Ackerman, and responses and discussion by students involved in the discussion. A new discussion thread will be posted each week.
At the end of 4 weeks, we will meet (in person) in the LMC at 3:00 for snacks & our final discussion.

How often will a new Circle get started? A new book will start each month, with our final meeting at the end of 4 weeks of reading and discussion online.

What books will we read this year? I have only chosen 3 books for discussion so far. Feel free to give me suggestions for more Circle of Ten books.

Can I join the discussion after the start date? No, sorry.

What if I can’t meet after school? Yes, but…If you can even stay for 15 minutes for our one face to face meeting, that would be great. But you can still join, even if you can’t meet after school.

Can I discuss on the blog even if I haven’t joined the Circle of Ten? No, but you can read the Circle of Ten peoples’ posts, which should be interesting and thought-provoking!

What if I already read the book?  Can I still join the Circle?  Yes, if you’re willing to re-read and discuss, join!  The second time you’ll get more out of the book than you did the first time through and our discussion will be richer for it.
